Outside and In, Or inside out

It’s been said “don’t judge a book by its cover”, but we do it no matter what. I think others judge me by what they see or think they know about me. I realize the woman I am through the art works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and helped me realize the type of person I wanted to become and who I really am. Some of the works that stand out to me exemplify what others perceive of me and how I perceive myself. If i were a curator I would have an exhibit called “Misunderstood”, separated into two parts. One with the theme of how I perceive myself and another with how others perceive me, all told through the artwork.

Inside
-The painting by Domenico Tieplo titled “America” I found that I can

relate to this oversized woman. This woman is hugging and looks like

she protecting a house and has pope hats by her feet. I have this
painting in my exhibit because I can relate to it. I find myself a
person that is always at home and loves to be around family more then

-
Next you will see a textile stamp titled “Testa” that also represents
me by the shades, highlights and stains in my life. Another work you
will see is a photograph by Raoul Ubac, titled “Le Combat des
Penthésilées”. The purpose of this picture is the struggles I have had
with others and the struggles that others put me through.

-You can also find a beautiful painting by Apollonio di Giovanni di
Tomaso, titled “The Story of Easther”. I found this painting rather
interesting because states that it is “Tempera and gold on wood” in
the caption, and the gold really makes everything stand out and that is
why it is in this exhibit. Everyone in this painting looks like they
are having a good time. I find that I have a lot of family and friends
that are important to me and are a highlight in my life.

Outside
-The stain glass window by Louis Comfort Tiffany titled “Bella Apartment Window” can show that  I am a person that will show how I feel but at times hide from it because of insecurities and being scared. The dark like going through the window shows the separation

-  Frederic Remangton sculpture is a man and a horse going down a “rocky decline” stated in the caption, and the name of this is “The Mountain Man”. This would be in the exhibit because family members say that i have a hard time moving forward and i am afraid of change.

In conclusion I would have this exhibit to show others how different I am to what others perceive me as. I would like to show others not to judge someone by assumptions, because the person that you might judge will perceive themselves very differently.

LES Galleries Reaction

In the Lower East side of Manhattan, the newest galleries there are so different from the Chelsea. The Chelsea area was much more different i felt like there were so many buildings and factories around there that no one would ever know that there is an art Gallery there. I found it very strange why The person that runs Chelsea would pick that area. Every time i walked into a different gallery it was so breath taking. It literally feels like you stepped into a different world when your around that area.  It was very clean, neat, and looked like a modern and professional gallery.  almost all of the galleries had white walls and large paintings.
LES was much more different in every way possible.  The area looked very busy and there were a lot of stores and apartments around. the galleries even looked liked stores but you can tell that there where painting in their just by imply looking through a window. There were a few galleries that had white walls and looked professional but others looked like they were trying to rebuild the place. The paintings and art works in LES were much more small then the painting in Chelsea.

Chelsea Galleries Reaction

I love seeing different and interesting works of art I love seeing models, busts, paintings, and drawing from people that have different expects of life. I would love to collect art but only works that catch my eye and i feel is interesting or beautiful.
One work of art that i would like to have is "America Martin" in the Mark Gallery. I found this piece very fascinating because its so eye captivating. I feel like its one of Pablo Picasso's paintings from the lines he uses to create a man. I also like the background of the painting because its different from what i am used to. I think if i was to have this i would defiantly have it out in display, most likely in the living room for everyone to see.
I also would like to collect the painting by Lisa Breslow found in Kathryn Markel Fine Arts. I found this painting beautiful to look at. Up close it looked as if i zoomed in to a picture and could see all pixels but from a distance its amazing to look at. It looks so peaceful and beautiful from the water , and seems to me that in the back there is a town and a type of church. I would also have this framed and out for display.

Illustrate a Story

Project #3

In the story titled "My day first starts around Four O'clock..." , Boyd Applegate  talks bout election day and i found it interesting how descriptive he is. He starts off talking bout the time he wakes up and how many miles he drive to get into town and go to the prescient. he also talks bout how much he loves arranging the poles and seeing the first voter which is the same voter every time, and seeing peoples smiles and hearing about their family makes him happy.

High and Low Functions

In the MoMA museum, there are many things that many and may not be seen as a high function object/ work of art. I found that there was a "Slinky" in the Museum and it was made by Betty James. I found this a a ver low function object. It is an object for kids to play with , but does not benefit anything in a persons life.

Another Low function object that i found in the MoMa Museum was the "etch-a-sketch" made by Jerry Burger. This is Also a very low function object. This just like the slinky is a toy for kids. I believe that high functional things should be objects that can protect and save a life.
This for an example , this safety seat by Drenefa Multibob is a high functional object. This is a seat that children sit on and will stay protected in a car. many parents with kids between the ages of a new born to about 6 have or should have this kid of car seat for their child.
Another high functional object that i have seen in the MoMA is this "LifePort Kidney Transporter"
I thought that this is the most highest function out of the four. I find this as a device that can safe lives for many people. Poeple that need a Kidney transplant, this machine will be used.

Imitation of Mondrian

Mondrian had a specific style that he used for these paintings.  He was considered as a modernist for making his paintings look 2 dimensional and used line and only primary colors in his work. I found it interesting what Mondrian does, but also found it easy and simple. So I put myself to the test and made a drawing of that same style that he would.

In the video that was viewed named “Mondrian”, showed many of his works and all were fairly similar but different in many ways. In the video one of his painting stood out to me because it was framed and positioned differently than the others. The painting was in a diamond position, with a corner on the frame was downwards.

I have drawn a “Mondrian” myself in the same position.  I used thin and thick black lines as he would, and used only primary colors in some of the boxes with in the drawing.  There is more paper areas on the paper then colors, but the colors stand out more because of it which was a technique that Mondrian used. Doing this drawing made me think a lot about what him as a great artist and what he would do. Positioning, coloring, and thinking about what might look best was a struggle but at the end I felt confident that I was done with it.

Mondrian had a great style and many people adored and still fascinated by his work. He had some similarities to Picasso’s “Cubism” by being very organic and really concise about where he wanted the lines in his painting to go. He has given a new outlook on modernism to the world.
